The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali with Arjuna Rice

Insecurity. Misunderstanding. Ego. Addiction. In a few thousand years, humans haven't changed much – we all still struggle in the same ways humans ever have. Yoga was examining those struggles well over a thousand years ago, and already identifying ways to overcome them.

Yoga was designed to quell the mental frustrations that pervade our lives. It has no judgments and no commandments, just tools and suggestions. Asana – the physical practice – is an important one of those tools, but there are so many others. In this discussion workshop, you'll get a primer on the underpinning philosophy of yoga through the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, or as I like to think of it, the User's Guide to Life. We'll examine the yogic approach to reducing suffering; to how we engage with others and ourselves, and strengthen our relationships; and ultimately to mental clarity. We'll fill up our toolbox.

If you find the physical practice of yoga helps you find moments of peace, this workshop will illuminate the deeper philosophy behind those moments, and try to help you find ways to bring those moments off the mat.

* No need to bring a mat, but you may wish to bring something to take notes.
